Vorpommern Marriage Abstracts--up to 1800
The Immigrant Genealogical Society has received several books of
abstracts and indexes to all the readable marriage records prior
to 1800 in Vorpommern (the part of Pomerania west of the Oder
River that was formerly part of East Germany). They include only
the western edge of Hinterpommern, now in Poland. The abstracts
give names of the groom and bride, the fathers's names,
occupations, residences, ages and the parish where the marriage
occurred.
The books are of course in German with many abbreviations. We'll
provide a list of commonly abbreviated terms and their
translation. You may list the spouse's name so we can identify
the correct entry. We'll count the marriages in each area and
provide up to 3 copies of abstracts. If you know which area,
check it.
