Southern Niedersachsen Marriage Abstracts -- to 1700, or 1701-1750

The Immigrant Genealogical Society has acquired 27 volumes of Southern Niedersachsen marriage abstracts and indexes for up to 1700 and from 1701-1750. These are particularly important because the Hannover Archive will not allow the Salt Lake Library to have copies of their church records. The abstracts give the name of the groom and bride, the fathers names, occupations, residences, ages and the parish.

Below we list the areas for which abstracts are available. If you can give the spouse's surname, we can cross-check the indexes and perhaps find your particular marriage. If your surname is a very rare one, you may include one or two alternate surnames. If your surname is very common, you must limit the search to 1 or 2 areas.

Our volunteers can count how many entries there are in the indexes for each area listed below. From this count, you may be able to narrow down your search for a village of origin. You may specify from which area you prefer us to send you 3 copies. We'll check for either of the 2 time periods that you designate.
