Schleswig-Holstein Marriage Abstracts--up to 1750

The Immigrant Genealogical Society has acquired books of marriage abstracts with indexes for all the readable records prior to 1750 in the Schleswig-Holstein areas. We will add to this collection as more become available from Germany. The books are of course in German with many abbreviations. We provide you with a list of common abbreviated terms and their translation.

Our volunteers can list for you how many marriages of one surname appear in each area and send copies of up to 3 records. If you give the spouse's surname, we can cross-check in the indexes and perhaps identify your ancestor's marriage. If your surname is very common, you should limit it to one or two areas. You may specify from which area you wish copies made. (Most of the areas included are in Holstein.)
